This is the page to download our database in the traditional format used by ChessBase from versions up to version 16, which is the version we used to create UltraCorr2024.
We have a different page where you can download UltraCorr2024 in the new 2CBH format but if you are a ChessBase17 user, you can still download this version, or both (no double payment). CB17 can handle both formats and convert between them. The CBH format file is smaller and will download quicker,
You only need to download one file, an encrypted ChessBase archive file called ultracorr2024.cbz (approx size 2.75 MB).
WARNING: We strongly recommend that you use either Google Chrome or the Firefox browser to download our database because Microsoft Edge sometimes tries to change the filename.
To download with your Windows browser, right-click on the link below and select the option "Save link as...". Choose a destination folder for the database on your computer hard drive. Or, if you don't have a choice of destination, move the file afterwards from your Downloads folder to your chosen location.
If you directly click the link below in some browsers you may receive an error message or gibberish can appear on your screen. If that happens, right-click the link.
Download the CBH database now!
After downloading and entering the password (see below) the CBZ file will expand to a CBH format database consisting of multiple files taking up about 1.6GB space on your hard drive. This should be compatible with all recent and not-so-recent versions of ChessBase from CB10 (maybe even CB8) upwards, including ChessBase17, and also with other ChessBase products such as Fritz.
It is highly advisable to create a new folder which will hold only the expanded UltraCorr2024 database. Do not try to open the file in Windows, but only in ChessBase after you have made a backup.
The downloadable CBZ file is like an ordinary CBV archive except that it is password protected. The passwords for the two files are different strings of alphanumeric characters.
The database will not open without the password(s) which we shall email to you after we receive PayPal's notification of your payment.
The password will normally be sent to you within an hour or two, unless we are asleep or out of the house, in which case there could be a delay of few hours.
The downloaded file can be copied to where you need it. It will not open within ChessBase until you pay and receive the password from us. The CBZ file contains all the separate files of the database and within a couple of minutes of entering the password you will have a functioning UltraCorr-2024 database.
After expanding the database you will be able, should you wish, to convert it to PGN or other proprietary formats but we will not do this for you. A PGN version would require much more space on your hard drive.
You can download first and pay later, or first send us your payment via PayPal. Payment through PayPal is completely secure and we do not collect any financial or personal information other than your name and email address which we require to send you the password.
We cannot emphasise too much that once you have downloaded the CBZ file, you should save it in a separate folder from the working folder. Every year we get requests to resupply the file and we cannot guarantee to be available to do this.
Large databases like this can easily get corrupted and you should make regular backups if you add your own games or edit the database.
We also strongly recommend keeping a copy of the database on a backup resource, such as a portable hard drive USB, in case you have any problems later.
