Short reviews of Joseph Henry Blackburne: A Chess Biography in The Times of London and The Sunday Times were the first to appear in Britain.

Some moves were omitted from the game in that review: 21...dxe4 22 Red1 Qc7 23 Qh3!
The Latin tag used by the reviewer (monumentum aere perennius) comes from the Roman poet Horace and means "a monument more lasting than bronze."
