Reviews in 'The Times'

Short reviews of Joseph Henry Blackburne: A Chess Biography in The Times of London and The Sunday Times were the first to appear in Britain.

Games and positions from the book featured in the Times column for several days. The following is from the article by GM Keene in The Spectator on 10 October 2015.

From The Sunday Times, 27 September 2015:

Some moves were omitted from the game in that review: 21...dxe4 22 Red1 Qc7 23 Qh3!

The Latin tag used by the reviewer (monumentum aere perennius) comes from the Roman poet Horace and means "a monument more lasting than bronze."

From The Times, Saturday 26 September 2015.
